About Me

I'm a registered nurse working on a cardiology and coronary care unit in a flagship emergency care hospital. I've worked in healthcare for more than 15 years now, the last 7 exclusively in cardiology. I've a BSc (hons) in Practice Development (Nursing) with an emphasis on cardiology (in particular, heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, and ECG/EKG interpretation). I gained my professional registration through a Diploma of Higher Education (advanced) programme.

I've written extensively on nutrition and popular healthcare articles for a lay audience, and I'm very, very passionate about all my writing and practice being well-researched and based on the best available evidence.

My fields of expertise are medicine, nursing and healthcare in general. My particular professional interests are cardiology and modifiable risk factors for disease. This incorporates lifestyle advice and nutrition, and I've written for a wide range of audiences.

Feel free to get in touch to discuss how I can contribute to your business!

The challenges of chronic disease in teens

The piece highlights the impact that natural teenage rebellion can have on chronic disease management and young people transitioning from paediatric to adult healthcare services and potentially self-management; the two-way impact that adolescence and chronic disease can have on each other. At the minute it's around 1400 words comprising a short case study (about a type one diabetic) and expanding on five barriers to chronic disease management/issues faced by teenagers with chronic disease.
